Are Meditation Apps Worth It?

If you have the world’s most wonderful app, then you shouldn’t have any problems, right?

Because you have the world’s most wonderful app, you shouldn’t have any stress and anxiety issues anymore. You’ve Aladdin’s Magic Lamp and that’s gonna do miracles for you. But if not, why not? That’s the question you never ask yourself.

Rolling stone gathers no moss.

People jump from one thing to the other thinking that maybe this new thing is better than this old thing. So they go after this fancy new thing and when that doesn’t work, they find another thing.

Thinking that, this other shiny thing is gonna work for them because it’s got some cool name or whatever, monkey space or whatever.

But this monkey space never works and that’s how they waste their life and then they complain about stress and anxiety issues.

I’m not saying this is you. Maybe you don’t have any stress and anxiety issues. But, you need to be very, very honest with yourself my friend. And when I say honest, I don’t mean you’re a dishonest person or anything—so don’t start making a fuss about that.

But if you cannot sit still, quietly for at least half an hour with your eyes closed, then take that as a red flag. That’s your mental threshold, right? And there is some work that needs to be done. And here I’m just trying to briefly talk about mental health, and I’m trying to briefly talk about meditation and all that good stuff.

So ask yourself, whatever app you use or whatever meditation method you use, is that giving you results? And if not, why not? Simple questions.

And that’s where you should begin. Asking yourself those questions? Not someday else. Not basing your decisions on my opinion or someone else’s opinions. If something is not working, before you jump into another new thing what I would suggest to you is to go and do your homework.

Apps will never work for you in the long run. They might give you some temporary relief. Because they are relaxation techniques or relaxation methods and that’s why you get some relief. But this is not what Yogis do. Apps are noise. Guided meditation is noise.

And noise cannot bring silence my friend and this is what you don’t realize. Buddha didn’t use noise to silence his mind. And that’s what you don’t realize. Buddha would probably burst out laughing if those companies selling meditation apps with big promises ever went to see him. So you should wake up.

When someone breaks their legs, they use crutches to move around while they heal, right? So please have that in mind. And that’s your homework and that’s what you need to find. Go and visit your local library or whatever. And do extensive research.

What you call meditation, is it really meditation or something else. Is the app you’re using, does it really bring silence to your mind? Does it really give you the tools to gain control or manage your negative thoughts? Does it really manage your stress and anxiety? If not, why not?

Those questions will lead you to the truth my friend.
